Whipster is a band from Groningen, a city in the northern part of the Netherlands. After several years trying to find the right musical direction, Peter van der Heide (guitar, vocals), Henk Drent (bass) and Marinus de Lange (drums) recorded their debut with producer Jan Heddema. The album, Strange, was released in 2002 by My First Sonny Weissmuller Recordings, distribution Konkurrent. Strange got very got reviews and was was praised by journalists. The Whipsaws are a high energy rock band from Anchorage, Alaska. In 2006, the band released their debut album, 10 Day Bender, which has seen respectable radio airplay in Europe as well as the U.S. The Whipsaws are releasing a new record titled, "60 Watt Avenue", in early 2008 and will begin touring full time. 60 Watt was mixed by John Agnello (Hold Steady, Son Volt, Drive by Truckers)and features a guest appearance by New West recording artist, Tim Easton. Coachwhips were a three-piece noise/punk rock outfit from San Francisco, California formed in 2001. John Dwyer, formerly of Pink and Brown (Dwyer was Pink), was the guitarist/vocalist. John Harlow played the drums and Mary Ann McNamara played the keyboard/tambourine. In their 2nd incarnation, Val (tronic) played the keyboard/tambourine, and Matt Hartman played the drums. The Coachwhips are known for their stripped-down, unpolished garage rock and completely inaudible lyrics, similar to The Oblivians and The Gories. The Coachwhips played their last show in New York City in late 2005. .
