Like most bands Skumdum’s line-up of musicians evolved over time before finding the talent, dedication, and chemistry needed to succeed. Pierre Petterson and Chris Tjarnlund first got together in 1993 when they were just 15 years old and formed a punkrock band, which they named Skumdum. In 1996, after several line-up changes and a lot of rehearsing, they were contacted by Birdnest Records who wanted to sign them on their label. Birdnest Records released “Lisa” in April of that year. Urskumug (former - Raven) came to be in 2001 in Rīga, Latvia, when the twosome of Krauklis (guitar / voice) and Slayorda (keys) was joined by Maero (guitar). Ever since, the sound of the band evolved towards a rapid and atmospheric black metal hailstorm with an intention to avoid live drums, relying on the impeccable soul of the drummachine instead. Skummel Maske is a guitarist from Drammen, Norway. He writes and records tracks that span across multiple genres, but typically they are rock/metal-based. He occasionally does video game covers and rearrangements for Dwelling of Duels, a monthly video game cover contest for live instruments. This contest is what made him take up recording and mixing in the first place, and has helped hone his skills ever since his debut in May 2008.
