Initially started in 1995 as a side solo project to Massachusetts based industrial project Zero Times Infinity, Deftly-D (a.k.a. David Dodson) evolved from an experimental noise and performance art project into an industrial act blending influences as disconnected as Asche, Eric B & Rakim, Massona, Test Dept, Meat Beat Manifesto and Venetian Snares. In 2007 Nau-Zee-auN was joined by multi-instrumentalist Andrew Grant (The Vomit Arsonist) and video and noise artist Jared Falcon (November 14) and began incorporating live video sample playing in their shows. In late 2008 Nau-Zee-auN performed the world's first live 3D video sample performance and added engineer and electronic musician Joshua Langburg (also in the band Negativetime) and drummer and multimedia artist Roland Adams (also from Zero Times Infinity, Battery Cage, Grenadier and The Hawaiian Shirt Mafia).

Nau-Zee-auN has remixed, collaborated and/or worked with Merzbow, Genesis P-Orridge, Terrorfakt, Zipper Spy, Ukuphambana, Abstinence, Lloop, and Hansel among others.
