1. Blitzkrieg sind eine der bekanntesten Bands der als „New Wave of British Heavy Metal“ bezeichneten Musikrichtung. Gegründet 1980 in Sunderland im Nordosten Englands, ließ die Band schon bald ein Demotape mit 3 Songs folgen: „Inferno“, „Blitzkrieg“ und „Armageddon“. Ersterer gelangte auf dem „Lead Weight“-Sampler zu Vinylehren, und die Band setzte mit ihrer ersten Single „Buried Alive/Blitzkrieg“ gleich nach.
