Animals as Leaders ist ein instrumentales Progressive Metal-Projekt des Gitarristen Tosin Abasi, der in Washington D.C. lebt. Das selbstbetitelte Debütalbum erschien im April 2009 via Prosthetic Records.
Das Projekt entstand auf einen Vorschlag des Labels Prosthetic, dem Abasis Gitarrenspiel auffiel, der damals noch in der Metalcore-Band Reflux aktiv war.
Daher wurde er gefragt, ob er gewillt sei, ein Soloalbum für das Label aufzunehmen.
Abasi lehnte zunächst ab mit der Begründung, es sei egoistisch und unnötig, auch an einer Solokarriere zu arbeiten.
Nachdem sich Reflux aufgelöst hatte, entschied er sich, das Angebot anzunehmen.
Der Name des Projekts ist von Daniel Quinns...

In 1987, a small record label was founded by Ed Piller and Radio London on air personality Gilles Peterson. The duo set out to combine the progressive elements of Jazz with the attitude of Hip Hop. Thus, the Acid Jazz label was born. Signing young, creative talents such as Chris Bangs (The Quiet Boys,) The Brand New Heavies, and A Man Called Adam, the label soon developed such a reputation, that most any music resembling the label's signature sound was referred to as Acid Jazz.

Work Clothes is the husband and wife pair Jenny & Lee Waters. Recording for their first full length was done at home in their own Bless This Mess studio. At home is where they spent close to three years writing and recording the twelve hauntingly bittersweet pop gems that grace this record. Final mixing was handled by the warm and thoughtful ears of their good friend Brian Paulson (Slint, Archers of Loaf, The Rosebuds).
With both Lee & Jenny being multi-instrumentalists(Lee plays drums with The Essex Green and Dean & Britta) they tend to prefer record all of their songs...

Mit „Paper Ships Under a Burning Bridge“ haben sie nach kurzer Zeit (24.07.07) bereits eine erste Veröffentlichung auf den Markt gebracht. Das Ganze in Form einer EP voll mit melodischem Hardcore!
Mit Brett Rasmussen ist auch noch ein ehemaliges Ignite-Mitglied am Start. Er spielt den Bass, Nick Pisticello Gitarre, Philipp Lee Schlagzeug und den Gesang übernimmt Steve Jennings. Chasse ist, wie einst bei Rise Against, Gitarrist der Truppe.
