Nikita Koshkin (born February 28, 1956) is a classical guitarist and composer born in Moscow. His early influences included Stravinsky, Shostakovich and Prokofiev, as well as rock music. As with those composers his music is characterised by rhythmic appeal, immediacy and wide range of colours, and well-thought-out dramatic content. Koshkin first came to prominence with his suite The Prince's Toys, completed in 1980 and first performed by the Czech-born guitarist Vladimir Mikulka. Der in Düsseldorf geborene und mit holländischem Pass ausgestattete Nikitaman heißt mit bürgerlichem Namen Nick Tilstra und wuchs im dortigen Hausbesetzermilieu auf. Dort lernte er auch Punkrock und eine alternative Art zu leben kennen. Er spielte als Perkussionist in einigen Bands und kam über seine afrikanischen Kollegen und seinen Freund Dj Flow zum Reggae und Dancehall. Er tourte mit verschiedenen Soundsystems, etwa mit der Hamburger Everlast Soundstation unter anderem auch im süditalienische Salento. Beim dortigen Zusammentreffen mit dem Linzer Soundsystem Soundsgood International lernte er Mono kennen. Auf Nikitaman´s 2002 erschienenen EP Ah... Loco?!? sang Mono schon bei einigen Titeln woraufhin...
