Carlos Vives (* 7. August 1961 in Santa Marta/Kolumbien) ist ein kolumbianischer Sänger und Schauspieler.
Er arbeitete zuerst er als Schauspieler in lateinamerikanischen Seifenopern, bevor er sich der Musik zuwandte. Seine unverwechselbare Musik ist eine Mischung aus traditionellen, kolumbianischen Akkordeon-Klängen (Vallenato) mit Rock- und Pop-Elementen, gepaart mit hintersinnigen Texten und der typischen Lebensfreude der kolumbianischen Karibikküstenbewohnern, den Costeños. In seiner Band "La Provincia"spielt ein Meister des traditionellen Akkordeons, Egidio Cuadrado. Zu Beginn seiner Karriere war er ein großer Anhänger von Elvis Presley und machte daher auch rockige Musik. In den 60er Jahren wirkte er in drei Filmen mit, die sich stark an den Beatles-Filmen orientierten. Zu der Zeit war er ein Jugendidol in Brasilien.

Starting from old analog synthesizers and cosmic rock improvisations, Giancarlo Toniutti studied electronic music at the Conservatory in Venice in the early eighties. His interest in visuals, installations and other art forms has been reflected in many of his works and other phenomena simply defined by Toniutti as "sound sites" as well as projects based on heterogeneous approaches to sonic acoustic materials.
