The talented singer from After Dinner, an environmental composer now living in New York, a legendary pioneer of laptop electronics and a multi-instrumentalist from Kansai come together to create a beautiful CD of experimental pop songs. Working together and separately back and forth from NY to Japan, these four legendary masters have fashioned a remarkable world of sound, lyric and rhythm. Usurpress is a death metal-band (of sorts) formed in Uppsala May 2010. The musical aim of founding members Steffe (vocals), Påhl (guitar) and Calle (drums) was, and still is, to combine the bestiality of old death metal and the undying hate of true hardcore/punk. We call our music “death crust” as we write short, aggressive songs built on wierd, dissonant death metal riffs and raw, primitive d-beat drumming.

Usurp was born in Lafayette, IN. Through numerous line-ups they continued to push the envelope of the then-bugeoning “screamo” sub-sub-genre of punk rock. Their music was available on several compilations and 7” records, including a split release with Jerome’s Dream, with whom they toured the United States, on Clean Plate Records. All their releases have been compiled and released on a discography CD, Disinformation Fix, on Alone Records. Antonio Leiriao moved from New York to Indiana to sing for the band in 1999.
