Joseph-Maurice Ravel (7 Mart 1875, Fransa – 28 Aralık 1937, Fransa) Fransız besteci ve piyanist. 20. yüzyılın önemli bestecilerindendir. Özellikle orkestrasyon konusunda çok başarılı olan Ravel’in en tanınmış eseri Bolero'dur. Bolero kadar ünlü bir diğer çalışması, 1922’de Rus besteci Modest Musorgski’nin eseri Bir Sergiden Resimler adlı piyano eserinin orkestrasyonudur. Ravel, Fransa’nın Bask bölgesinde, İspanya sınırında bir küçük köy olan Ciboure’da dünyaya geldi, Paris’te büyüdü. Annesi Bask, babası ise İsviçreli bir sanayiciydi. Maurice Emmanuel (May 2, 1862–December 14, 1938) was a French composer of classical music. Born in Burgundy and brought up in Dijon, Marie François Maurice Emmanuel became a choristor at Beaune cathedral after his family moved to the city in 1869. He entered the Paris Conservatoire, studying composition with Léo Delibes, and came in touch with Claude Debussy who was also studying there. Emmanuel pursued a notable academic career.
