Juanes, 9 Ağustos 1972 yılında Medellin'de doğmuştur.Kolombiya'lıdır."Juanes"ilk adı olan Juan Esteban Aristizabal Vasquez'den gelmektedir.Küçüklüğünden bu yana babası O'na "juanes" ismiyle seslendiği için kendiside bu ismi kullanmış ve arkadaşlarıda aynı şekilde hitab etmiştir.Sonraki yıllarda Andres Garcia, Fernando"Toby", Tobon ve Jose David Lopera ile birlikte "Ekhymosis" adlı bir rock grubu kurmuş ve daha sonraki müzik kariyerinde de "juanes" ismini kullanmıştır. Juanes 2004 yılında çıkarmış olduğu "Mi sangre" adlı albümü ile ve özellikle "La Camisa Negra" yani "Kara Gömlek" adlı parçası ile uluslararası müzik piyasasında adını duyurmayı başarmıştır. Juanito 1936 Tunus doğumlu Cezayir asıllı Fransız müzisyen. Juanito'nun 2000 tarihli derleme albümü "Canım Vatanım", 1960'larda seslendirdiği Türkçe aranjmanlarından oluşmuştur.
