Simon Ravn (born 25 January 1974[1] in Copenhagen, Denmark) is a composer who composes orchestral music for film, television and video games. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he wrote music in the MOD format under the pseudonym "Melomaniac",[2] and scored music for the Amiga game, Foundation.[3][4] .
Valravn combines its Danish and Faroese roots to create extraordinary folktronic. The band debuted in 2007 with the self-titled album Valravn. Their blend of electronics, raw energy and Nordic folk roots got their debut nominated for three Danish Music Awards. In 2009, the band released their wonderful second album Koder på snor ("Codes on a string") upon the world. Where their debut consisted mainly of interpretations of traditional Nordic songs, this time most songs were written by the band itself. Valravn has toured extensively in Denmark and Europe, having played festivals and venues in Germany, Norway, The Netherlands, Finland, France...
Also known as Raven. Members of Forgotten Woods released their earlier demos under the name of Ravn. There are rumors that Ravn changed their name to Mengele, and are playing but not recording. There is another Ravn, a black metal band from Virginia, USA. There is also another Ravn, a norwegian folkmetal band from Trondheim. They combine heavy guitar riffs with a beautiful Norwegian female voice, all inspired by Norwegian folklore. .
