The Svengalis (Mart, Jim, Saul and Jonah) are a London based band who formed in 2006. Their first recording, produced by Junk Scientist (The Rakes, Larrikin Love), although not released received national UK radio play. The Svengalis were featured in session on Steve Lamacq's "In New Music We Trust" show on Radio 1. They also made no.3 in Lamacq's top 2006 demos and featured as channel4.com/music's artist of the week. The Svengalis released their first single under their own label "Villains & Rogues" in March 2007, followed by the belated follow up in January 2013. Svend Asmussen (28 February 1916 - 7 February 2017) was a jazz violinist from Denmark, known as "The Fiddling Viking". A Swing style virtuoso, he played and recorded with many of the greats of Jazz, including Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Stephane Grappelli.
