Herbie Hancock | tr

Lisede yarı profesyonel topluluklarla birlikte çaldı, fırsat buldukça dinletilerde aralarında Donald Byrd’in da bulunduğu cazcılara eşlik etti. Hancock 1961’de ilk kez New York’ta çalarken yanında yine Byrd vardı, onunla kendi küçük topluluğu adına kayıtlar yaptı. Bu ilk albümdeki parçalar arasında cazı sıradan caz dışı dinleyicilere de ulaştırmayı başaran bir şarkı, "Watermelon Man" de bulunuyordu. Öyle...
Anthony John Hancock, best known as Tony Hancock (12th May 1924 – 25th June 1968) was a major figure in British television and radio comedy in the 1950s and 1960s. He was both loved and admired by his public, and when he appeared on stage in the late fifties/early sixties, playing in 2,000+ seater theatres, his star burned brightly, and audiences flocked to see him. Considered by many to be (together with his scriptwriters - Ray Galton & Alan Simpson, and producer Dennis Main-Wilson), the originator(s) of the British 'sitcom', his radio 'Half Hours', and later his output on television...
Herbert Jay Solomon (April 16, 1930 – July 1, 2003), better known as Herbie Mann, was an American jazz flautist who had an interest in traditional music of other cultures. Herbie Mann was born in Brooklyn, New York. Early in his career, he played saxophone and clarinet, but Mann was among the first jazz musicians to specialize on the flute and was perhaps jazz music's preminent flautist during the 1960s. Mann was quite prolific and performed often. His first gig was playing in the Catskills at age 15. His last, on May 3, 2003 was at the New Orleans Jazz...
Wayne "The Train" Hancock has been called "the master of hillbilly swing," a "roots Renaissance man," a "country singer's country singer" and "Hank Williams meets Gershwin." But the phrase most frequently echoed throughout his career is "Wayne Hancock is the real deal." Joe Ely said it, Hank Williams III said it, Bobby Koefer from the Texas Playboys said it, as have countless music fans and writers when referring to Hancock's authentic and original blend of honky tonk, western swing, blues and big band that he calls "juke joint swing!" Authenticity and sincerity have been the cornerstones of Hancock's writing and...
Herbie Nichols (January 3, 1919 – April 12, 1963), was an American jazz pianist and composer. Obscure during his lifetime, he is now highly regarded by many musicians and critics. Herbie was born in New York City. During much of his life he was forced to take work as a Dixieland musician instead of playing the types of jazz he preferred. He performed originally in bop groups, but is best known today for his own highly original compositions, program music which combines bop, Dixieland, and West Indian music with harmonies derived from Erik Satie and Béla Bartók. His first known...
