26 Şubat 1953'te Connecticut eyaletinde doğan Bolton, müzik hayatına hard rock grubu "Blackjack" ile başlamıştır. Sonraları söz yazarı olarak 1975'te "Bolotin" soyadıyla Laura Branigan ile çalışmıştır. Bolton, 80'lerin sonuna kadar görünürde sadece söz yazarı olarak görünmüştür. 1989 yılındaki 6. stüdyo albümüyle 3 numaraya ulaşan Bolton, 1996'ya kadar hep ilk 3'e giren albümlere imza atmıştır.
Bunların dışında 1989'da "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" adlı eseri ve 1991'de "When a Man Loves a Woman" adlı şarkılarıyla ABD listeleri olan "Billboard Hot 100" listesinde 1 numaraya ulaşan Bolton, müzik dünyasının en büyük isimlerinden kabul edilmektedir. .

The alternative rap-metal band Bolt Upright formed in Hollywood, CA and comprised singer Toriono "DJ Tory Tee" Mayek; his brother, bassist Damian Valentine Mayek; guitarist David Aguirre; drummer Jeff "Heff" Holter; and DJ Johnny Love. Their debut LP Red Carpet Sindrome appeared on the Sony 550 imprint in early 1999. .
