Eccojams is a sub-genre of vaporwave that started as a form of electronic music technique. Pioneered by Oneohtrix Point Never using the alias Chuck Person, it takes old pop songs, usually with a kitsch value, then reconstructs them using delay, glitching, reverb and other techniques to create new music. It came to be associated with vaporwave after Beer on the Rug artists like Vektroid and Mediafired were inspired by the style and worked it into their own. .
