La carriera artistica di Mario inizia nel 1984 quando incide con i Denovo il primo disco. La band diventa presto una bella realtà del nuovo rock italiano del periodo, incidendo ben 5 album e selezionati più volte a Sanremo. Nel 1990, sciolta la band, Mario continua a scrivere canzoni e bisognoso di nuovi stimoli artistici approda in brasile la terra del samba e della bossanova.
