Forming in 1963 as The Intruders and later known as The Quinstrells they became known as The Dearly Beloved in late '65 and were Tucson's most popular '60s band. Shortly after their name change Dan Gates, a DJ from a local radio station KTKT came along with the tape of a song called Peep Peep Pop Pop. The group were not at all keen at first but eventually he persuaded them to record it at the Audio Sound Recorders Studio in Phoenix and a record deal was negotiated with the New Mexico-based Boyd label. They got the band's name wrong...
Crushingly heavy metal from the North of England. Dearly Beheaded combined the thrash of Vio-lence and Slayer with the modern rage of Machine Head and Fear Factory, but with the heavy groove of bands like Corrosion of Conformity and classic Black Sabbath. The first Album, Temptation had a classic metal feel to it, a kind of Slayer meets Sabbath, whereas the follow up, Chamber of One, nodded more to Machine Head, Fear Factory and Pantera. Their singer, Alex Creamer, later formed I-Remain. Their drummer Simon Dawson later formed Devilment and joine Steve Harris's British Lion. .
DEARLY BELOVED: ON THE SUBJECT OF A HAPPY ACCIDENT CALLED HAWK VS. PIGEON Hawk vs. Pigeon, Dearly Beloved’s smashing new record, wasn’t actually meant to be a record. It wasn’t meant to be anything. Working on their second full length release, the songs are written and ready to be recorded. Upon their first...
