At least five bands/artists have been called Nucleus. 1. Nucleus were a pioneering jazz-rock band from the U.K., who continued in different incarnations from 1969 to 1985. In their first year they won first prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival, released their first album (Elastic Rock), and performed both at the Newport Jazz Festival and the Village Gate jazz club. They were led by Ian Carr, who had been in The Don Rendell & Ian Carr Quintet during the mid and late 1960s, and was a respected figure in British jazz for more than forty years. The ideology behind nucleus roots was to create a studio resource for the abundant and obvious talent already existing in Manchester. The studio focused on reggae, as the studio grew, so did the catalogue of artists, arrangements and songs. The nucleus roots studio then created a platform for the artists in the form of the ''nucleus roots band'' The Band was established in 1996 from the ashes of Manchester's highly acclaimed punky reggae band, Community Charge. In the early days nucleus roots was a ten piece reggae band featuring some of the most respected musicians playing on the Uk circuit....
Nucleus Torn is a Swiss Progressive folk rock band. Earlier efforts were focused on the boundaries of rock music, from silence to raging fury, but later releases exhibit a more minimal modernist folk approach.
