There is more than one band named VOW. 1) A UK Goa / Psytrance group made up of Brian Minnis, Nick Savage & Paul Maeckelberghe 2) A Los Angeles based duo comprised of Julia Blake on vocals and Andrew Thomas for everything instrumental. Heavily influenced by vintage instruments, synthesizers and effects, Vow dances along the genre lines of synth-pop, dream-pop, dark wave and post punk. Driven by drum machine and rich chorus bass lines, Julia's soulful melodic alto vocals ooze on top of the analog pulsing synths and dreamy pads. Bandcamp 3) VOW is a visual kei band from Tokyo,...
There are at least two groups named The Vows: 1. The Vows were a mid-1960s sould/R&B group that recorded a few cuts for Motown. Nót a stage name for erstwhile Motown mover and shaker Richard “Popcorn” Wylie, as is often reported, The Vows were in fact a rather obscure raucous West Coast R&B group who provided backing vocals on a few early sides for Motown subsidiary VIP Records before getting a one-off single deal of their own. Best known track is probably 'Show Girl'. 2. The Vows are a Seattle, WA, based American hardcore band showcasing an old skool hardcore...
Liverpool pop rockers The Vow have released 3 albums in 3 consecutive years. Their 2014 release "You Are?", like it's 2012 and 2013 predecessors "For a Dreamer" and "Bluer than you" is packed with bright, bouncy, sing along tunes with deceptively dark lyrical content. Their music is permeated by the influence of The Beatles, David Bowie, U2 and Led Zeppelin. The Vow was originally formed in 1989 but disbanded in 1991 without having released any recordings commercially. The 3 founder members Graham Trust, Tony Potter and Martyn Gilbert reformed in 2008 to record a collection of 12 new songs which...
Japanese melodic hard rock band led by Kyoji Yamamoto (山本恭司), formed in 1984 from the ashes of Bow Wow. Bow Wow's (1976-84) style is hard/speed rock, but later (1984) when they changed name to VW, they also changed line-up and style to more melodic and commercial (and less 'agressive'). We should treat VW and BW as two different (but connected) bands. Now they back to Bow Wow name, returned to old lineup and old style. .
Disavowed was formed in 1994 as Nocturnal Silence. It was not until 1998, though, that the Dutch Brutal Death Metal unit released its first self-financed studio effort; a demo called Plateau. Soon after, they changed to their current monicker. Two years later, in 2000, another self-financed demo was released, this one being the three-song Point of Few. The band was then signed to Unique Leader Records. On this largely Brutal Death label, Perceptive Deception was released in June 2001. It was comprised mostly of updated versions of the songs found on both previous releases, all of which dealt with topics...
