Phraseologist, poet, philosopher, and magnificent no nonsense wordsmith, Columbo Black is the antithesis of what the masses fathom as a west coast rapper. Born in Hollywood, raised in Compton, Columbo etches lofty and eloquent thoughts within a style that he admits was heavily influenced by artists such as Canibus, Nas, Black Thought, and Ghostface Killah just to name a few. With a distinctively electric voice, Columbo catches the listeners attention in an instance while they cant help but become cognizant of the sheer wisdom and wit that jumps from his page. Blackness didn't pick up a pen to write until 2004, which was when he knew he was ready to execute the art he had studied exhaustively for some 20 years.

Due to the advice of his best friend, Columbo went in a recorded his first song "100 Bars".....since then he has been in the studio non-stop creating classics. 2005 came and Columbo saw himself associating himself with such super L.A. underground talents as Perfecto, Blue Collar, Diz Gibran, Ben Cartwright, Captain Apollo, and producers like Vainglory, CAS, Shortfuze, C.O.S., Imaginative Eye, J. Dodee and others. Perfecto offered Columbo the chance to combine with Lifeless. Intrigued by their music and commitment to lyrical excellence, Columbo joined Lifeless and has since been on "Enemiez of the State", the first group mixtape since Columbo entered the Group. 2006 passed with relatively fast with songs being made and Columbo finding himself and his voice with the ultimate aim of making music that is was quality and not doing songs that make him "fit in".

Then, 2007 came and Black took on new management and eventualy found himself in Spider Loc's camp recording songs with the likes of Spider himself, Papa Smurf, Bigfoot, Kam and Ras Kass. Columbo also got spins in the UK (Conspiracy Radio). He also made powerful allies in and out of California with talents such as Ace, Cuban , J-Lyric, Melly Mel II, Veteran Eye, JBL, Billy Nix, and other talented artists. Columbo Black is currently in the conceptual stages of his mixtapes "The Tutelage of Pei Mei" and "The Way of the Blade: The Music of Clashing Swords" and his first album tentatively titled "The Fall of Nero: The Day Before" .
