1) IN THE PAST THERE WERE NINNIES WHO WERE TOO SELF SERIOUS TO DELIVER THE PUNK ROCK TO SOOTHE THE MASSES, NOW THERE IS JIM DANDY. From a cute little seaside town in Maine, these 20something punkers are never into taking things too seriously and are just as cute. Many of their lyrics come from real people, places, snot rockets, cheap beers, good dope, hot asphalt, snickering bickering, Jim Jarmusch movies and PARTIES. Jim Dandy are Hunter "Cold Fish" Finden, Molly "B. Goode" Samuels, and Wes "The Wes" Sterrs.

2)James Mangrum headed a small gang of misfits who became a band, "Knowbody Else", after being unable to find a job. However, they were run out of town for stealing instruments. They moved to New Orleans and recorded a Stax record that went nowhere. The band, consisting of vocalist Mangrum, guitarists Ricky "Ricochet" Reynolds, Stanley "Goober" Knight, and Harvey "Burley" Jett, bassist Pat Daugherty, and drummer Wayne Evans changed their name to "Black Oak Arkansas" (after James' hometown Black Oak, Arkansas) and released a string of albums with much more success. James got his nickname from the band's cover of the LaVern Baker song Jim Dandy and became known for his rambunctious, sexually-themed on-stage antics. However, he left the band in 1975 and was replaced by James Henderson. After recovering from a heart attack, he reunited with Reynolds in 1984 to release the solo album Ready as Hell. They released The Black Attack is Back two years later. Mangrum reunited with Black Oak Arkansas in 1999 for a tour and a new album: The Wild Bunch.

3) Growing up in Winnipeg and a brief stint in the mildly popular band, The Simpletones (thanks Ms. Monson's grade 6 class) left a deep impression on the artist-to-be-known-as Jim Dandy. Infected with the DIY ethic of 80's punk, he gravitated to laptop/mobile recording/production as the music industry began its current implosion. Relocating to Guelph, Ontario, he released his first album, "The Something and the Beautiful Everything". His music is chill, pop-inspired instrumental folktronica. Volcano Choir without the lyrics. Godspeed You Black Emperor! with blue-eye soul. .
