Hence fonk, to many listeners, is associated with the constant evolution of the tradition introduced by James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, and Funkadelic/Parliament, continued by artists such as Ohio Players, Bootsy's Rubber Band, OutKast, along with record labels such as Westbound. Bootsy's Rubber Band's 4th album was even entitled "This Boot is Made for Fonk-N." One could say that fonk is a more narrowly tailored tag in support for a compelling funky interest. .
