Dubstyle is an electronic music genre which combines elements of dubstep and hardstyle. It is quite a new genre and has not yet gained any mainstream attention like dubstep or the mainly European popularity of hardstyle. Dubstyle first made it into the open with Headhunterz & Brennan Heart's track The MF Point of Perfection (Original Dubstyle mix) from Headhunterz' album Studio Sessions. The song featured a 2-step dubstep rhythm with throbbing hardstyle kicks. Dubstyle is a combination of hardstyle's melodic structure with dubstep's rhythmic structure. Unlike hardstyle's mostly straightened 4/4 rhythm, dubstyle incorporates hardstyle percussion (most notably hardstyle kicks) into a non-straightened breakbeat or 2-step pattern. As a result, any present bassline doesn't follow the strict offbeat pattern that regular hardstyle incorporates. In turn, this sometimes results in basslines bearing similarities to those found in dubstep. As with hardstyle, the melody is often written in triplet form using electro or supersaw synths, and its overall structure is very similar to hardstyle's. The term dubstyle was then first used, since hardstep is a different genre. After that, dubstyle pretty much exploded. Lots of other artists like Toneshifterz began experimenting with dubstyle. Currently the most notable dubstyle artist is Pavelow, who is actually Bas Oskam of the hardstyle duo Noisecontrollers. Other artist include Unknown Analoq (Fabian Bohn, know as Brennan Heart to hardstylers), Obsidia and others.
