Prey For Nothing was forged in the flame of progressive metal gone dire. At the beginning, Amir (bass), Yaniv (guitars) & Iftah (drums) met under the musical roof of dissolved Prog Metal band DamnNation. In the early 2000s they played numerous shows, including legendary Iron Maiden singer Paul Dianno, and released a self-printed album called "Mentally Trapped" in 2004. Iftah left for one year of studying in the Musical Academy of Los Angeles, USA, and DamnNation was no more. But as he returned a year later, a new metal act came to be. Now known as Prey For Nothing, the...
What is the relevance of pop music today? How do bands reinvent the three-minute pop song without coughing up the ghosts of its long history or morphing it into an unrecognisable mess? Perth indie phantasms The Preytells have a way. When they hit the scene in 2005 they experienced a quick, intense wave of success. Not necessarily the actual decade or reality of the 1980s, but more the one-liners, like when Schwarzenegger throws a...
The Homosexuals were an influential British punk band formed in 1977 as The Rejects by Bruno McQuillan (a.k.a. Bruno Wizard), Anton Hayman, and Jim Welton (who has also recorded under the names L. Voag, Amos, and Xentos). Their angular guitars, complex melodies, and experimental leanings distanced them somewhat from the punk rock being created by their contemporaries and made them a definite precursor to post-punk. They released very little during their lifetime, and most of what they did release was on small run vinyl on obscure record labels. The members also recorded in various combinations under several different pseudonyms. These...
