Created in May 2008 to further develop the darkness invoked by its immediate precursors, seminal black/extreme metal pioneers Hellhammer and Celtic Frost, Triptykon evolved from a Celtic Frost side project initiated by Tom Gabriel Fischer (a.k.a. Tom Gabriel Warrior), the group's singer, guitarist, and main songwriter. Following five years of songwriting and recording sessions, the subsequent release of their acclaimed Monotheist album, and a 125-date world tour, mounting tensions began to cripple the resplendently disinterred Celtic Frost by late 2007. The situation eventually rendered it virtually impossible for Warrior to succeed in convening Celtic Frost for songwriting and rehearsal sessions...

In late 2000, Matt Kesner, Brandon Arnold, and Jason Wright from the band Modular (noise/space rock from Fayetteville) joined up with Kevin Blagg to form Tycho. The band quickly gained recognition in town by playing constantly in town as well as St. Louis and Kansas City and opening for bands such as The Dismemberment Plan, Ted Leo, Mates Of State and Enon. A year later they changed the spelling of their name after discovering there was another Tycho out there. Kristina Stykos is a music producer, recording engineer, songwriter and performer based in Vermont. Her recording studio, Pepperbox Studio, is solar, wind and generator powered and fully off-the-grid. After her first self-produced release, In The Earth’s Fading Light (2005), was designated “Best Vermont Album of the Year” by the Barre-Montpelier Times Argus, Kristina completed the next phase of her audio engineering education by earning a production certificate at the Berklee School of Music in Boston.
