Power Salad is a comedy music group regularly heard on the nationally-syndicated "Dr. Demento Show" as well as college and independent stations in the US and in the Netherlands. The group evolved out of Akron, Ohio's radio comedy group Zot Theater in the late 1980's, and has released 3 CDs of funny music. Performing member Chris Mezzolesta has represented Power Salad live at fan cons including the huge GENCON in Milwaukee 2001, ALCON (Weird Al/funny music con) in Chicago 1998/2000/2002, and Dementia 2001 in Detroit 2001. [1] Marijne van der Vlugt met guitarist Paul Kennedy whilst studying at film school and knew drummer Rob Wakeman from the house she was living in. They found a bassist and formed a band named The Merry Babes. Marijne sang lead vocals and played keyboards. Salad's first album, Drink Me hit the streets in 1995 and peaked at number 17 in the album charts, no doubt thanks to the bands relentless touring around the UK and Europe. The band started in May 2007 in Brasilia - Brazil with the formation of 2 guitarists (Thiago Campos and Marcelo Seabra), a bassist (Felipe Campos), and a drummer (Caco Gonçalves). The group had no idea what would come out of the blend, and made no effort to pre-establish any specific genre to follow. The goal was to meet inside a rehearsal space, jam, and write original songs with everyone's ideas, hence the name "Bad Salad".
