Relative Ash was formed in Chicago in 1996, featuring a membership of vocalist Marcus Harrington, guitarists Carlos Salazar and Junior Antunez, bassist Chuck Ford, and drummer John Salazar. Becoming popular in their hometown, the band snagged small supporting gigs on the 1998 Warped tour and the 1999 X Games tour; they eventually signed with the Island label and issued their debut album, Our Time With You..., in the summer of 2000. .

Relatives Menschsein is a German darkwave band formed in the early 1990s. The group, fronted by Lissy Mödl and Jörg Wolfgram followed the movement in music, "Neue Deutsche Todeskunst" (New German Death Art). They were signed to label Danse Macabre, founded by the members of Das Ich. Their first album, Gefallene Engel, was released in Germany in 1992 on Danse Macabre. Relativ is a project created by Draško Radovanović from Belgrade, Serbia. Since his teenage days Draško was involved in Psy-Trance music, and very soon started to produce his first tracks.
