Koreana is a family act from Korea. In the 70's and 80's they worked the European dance club circuit and released a handful of studio albums on the Polydor label. Their club act consisted mostly of covers of popular songs, but their "intermissions" included a lot of original material and some fantastic displays of showmanship. Koreana gained world-wide recognition when they played for the 1988 Olympic games at Seoul. .
There are two bands called The Koreans. One is from London, the other is from Austin. The London based "The Koreans" line up of former schoolmates consists of: Oliver Hicks - Lead Vox/Theremin/Keys/Guitar/Tabmorine Brent Newman - Lead Guitar/Vocals Chris Hill - Drums Rob Harwood - Bass They have released at least 2 albums on their own label: Dull Diamonds and Polished Stones 65 Sutherland Square Plus there is another album released on Storm the_koreans .
The Maitri Vihar Monastery is located in Swoyambu Nath in Nepal and is home to some 50 monks from both Nepal and Tibet. They have released a CD, Tibetan Mantras and Chants, on which producer John Matarazzo of LogicalDrift presents a compilation of ten samples of Buddhist liturgical music. Most of the selections are chanted by the temple's resident monks. During some of the chants, bowls, cymbals and horns are used. .
