Ooberman founders Dan Popplewell and Andy Flett met over a piano at their school in Bradford, 1988. The first band they set up was The Forestry Commission, with Andy's younger brother Steve Flett on bass. The band's life soon ended when Dan moved to Liverpool, but the three friends kept in touch. Steve moved to Liverpool in 1992, and Andy later joined him in 1997. Ooberman was then born, complete with Sophia Churney (keyboards and vocals) and Alan Kelly (drums). In the early 90’s, four complete loons decided to pick up instruments and make a racket. The resulting din required a name that embodied both their incredible musical prowess and their extreme knack for silliness. The only fitting moniker was GOOBER PATROL. OOBE is a pseudonym used by two (unconnected) Italian experimental electronic music producers. 1. OOBE, short for Out Of Body Experience, is from Turin. He released SFTCR on Opal Tapes in 2013, followed in 2014 by Digitalisea. 2. OObe is Nicolò Sambugaro from Vicenca, who in 2013 has released an album called Nero Veneziano on Phantasma Disques. .
