Buxton Orr (18 April 1924 - December 27, 1997) was a Glasgow-born Anglo-Scottish composer. Originally trained as a doctor, Orr gave up medicine and switched to music, studying composition with Benjamin Frankel. Best known for his personal application of serial technique and for several virtuoso instrumental fantasies on well-known operatic themes, he was also active for a time in the film industry as well as being an energetic and influential teacher. They've played with such notable acts as Okkervil River, By the End of Tonight, Akron/Family, Man Man, Great Lake Swimmers, Maria Taylor, Copeland, Colour Revolt, Anathallo, Look Mexico, Gatsbys American Dream, Statistics and Denison Witmer. After a couple of Texas tours, a Gulf Coast tour and an East Coast tour they went in to record their follow up to 'Red Follows Red' entitled 'A Family Light'. Sarah Buxton grew up in Lawrence, Kan., and became actively involved in music as a child by learning piano, playing flute and joining a children's choir. She sang Patty Loveless' "Blame It on Your Heart" at a talent show as a junior in high school. As she learned more about music, she became interested in songwriters and began writing poetry. After graduation, she met one of her musical idols, Stevie Nicks, who encouraged her to pursue music, which meant a move to Nashville.
