My knowledge of this band is limited but anyone who has heard 'Alturas' or any Andean or Nicaraguan based music is sure to find the whimsical woodwinds and tribal drum patterns infectious and original. Though the music is indicative to region it is highly eclectic and holds something for everyone. South American / Latino danceability, meditative chill and tasty rhythms make this band an adventurous sidestep into an ancient realm of music that holds a classic and timeless translation quality. .
ALTURA is a North Carolina band consisting of Jeremy Osbourne (bass), Franklin Ervin (guitar), Chad Gibson (drums & percussion), Jason Lingle (keyboards & vocals) and Rain Irving (vocals). They played local clubs in the early 90's, gathering a loyal fan base. A 5-song demo recorded in 1995 got the attention of Magna Carta's producer Robert Berry, who brought them together in his California studio and produced their first album in 1996.
