Formed in 1997, skin contact grew out of founder Kevin Breidenbach's interest in both electronic music & computers. Early works were influenced heavily by the EBM & industrial dance music of the 90's, as well as other forms of electronic music. Over time, the sound of SC has evolved to include elements of IDM, drum & bass, noise, and rhythmic industrial music to form a unique blend of dark electronics. Recent releases have been well-received by the underground press, being described as “meticulously sculpted”, “expertly engineered”, and “intelligent”. Many moons ago, way down in darkest Hampshire, there was once a band called The Lens. With their spacy, melodic and mainly instrumental music, they were hardly the darlings of the late 1970's music press which were championing the cause of punk rock and the New Wave at the time, but that didn't bother The Lens.
