Despite a slim discography, cult favorite duo the Skitzofreniks have been important mainstays in Boston's hip-hop underground since the early '90s. Originally formed in Cambridge, MA, the two - rapper Charlie Bawles (aka CheckMark) and DJ/producer Eddie Bones - first began recording in 1991 and earned their reputation almost exclusively from their local performances. In 1998, they self-released on CD-R the On My Own SH!T EP, which landed them a recording deal with Boston's Brick Records. Skitz is a DJ, producer and recording artist releasing hip hop records. He co-presented the Original Fever show with Rodney P on BBC 1Xtra radio station until 2007. His first full length album, Countryman, was released in 2001. His latest is the 2010 release Sticksman which was accompanied by a remixed version entitled Remicksman. He has also released a number of mix CDs including Badmeaningood and the Homegrown series as well as countless singles. Skitzo was formed in London in early 1985 by Phil (v) and Rod Connor (d). They added Tony Bronham (b) and Anthony McVey (g) and played some gigs, known as The Electros. After Tony rejoined the band ( he was in prison for six month ) the band name was changed in Skitzo. Steve Tomlinson (d) replaced Rod Connor, due to an accident which left Rod unable to play for a long time. Their popularity was on the increase and so they signed a record deal with Nervous.
