Metronome начали играть в августе 1998 года. Изначальный состав был следующим: вокалист Sharaku, барабанщик Kemumaki, гитарист Fukusuke и басист Yazi, но вскоре они сменили обоих гитаристов на EyexGxA и ASUKA hime, а в конце года последнего заменил еще один басист Kei. Первая демка появилась в феврале 1999 года под названием 8bit girls bravo, несмотря на достаточно непростое начало. Всего через несколько месяцев в мае в группу вернулись Fukusuke и Yazi, правда Yazi снова ушел в июне, оставив metronome без официального басиста. Formed in 2002, Metronome Charisma is Bertrand, Gaëtan, Jérôme and Julien. Fusing elements of hardcore, emo and metal into a strain of rocking chaos, they quickly wrote eight aggressive and desperate songs, creating their own style that would be best described as «BOTCH meets ENVY». Metronome Charisma played its first shows in their hometown, Bordeaux, a city which is better known for its wine than for its hardcore scene, supporting screamo heroes Yaphet Kotto.
