Caedere is founded in 1998 when three members (Herbert - bass, Johan - drums and Niels - guitar/vocals) of the band Concrete decided to change the style of music they played, and therefore the name of band. After the alteration, the band had a few gigs. In the spring of 2000 Michiel joined on vocals and Mark was added as an extra guitar player. Despite working out new material, progress was slow. Название этого созданного в 2006 году франкоязычного проекта из Канадской провинции Квебек происходит от латыни и переводится как «Совершающий Самоубийство». Проект состоит из музыкантов групп: Monarque, Ciel Nordique, Veneficium. В 2009 году группа выпустила концептуальный альбом Thrène на стихи Квебекского поэта Эмиля Неллигана (1879-1941), собственно ему же и посвященный. «Человеку, который видел мечты, по другую сторону парадоксов жизни...» В 1899 году поэт попал в лечебницу для душевнобольных и провел там больше сорока лет, до самой смерти, так и не излечившись от тяжелого психического недуга.
