Корни группы лежат в далеком 1991 году, когда певец, гитарист и клавишник Atle Wiig встретился с басистом Jo-Arild Toennessen и ударником Knut Naesje в норвежском местечке Stavanger. Их объединил интерес к мифологии в экстремальной музыке, и вполне естественно, что эти воины решили создать новую группу. На протяжении 1993-1995 они записывают несколько демо. The Industrial Jazz Group (IJG) is an acoustic "new jazz" ensemble showcasing the music of American composer Andrew Durkin.
