There are 2 artists known as Whimsical: 1) Shoegaze/Dreampop band from Chicago IL 1999; 2) Norwegian Rapper

1) "Whimsical is a shoegaze/dreampop band formed in 1999. This band drew on inspiration from many other classic shoegaze bands, such as Slowdive, Ride, My Bloody Valentine & Cocteau Twins, but truly have a unique sound of their own. A "wall of sound", as some would say. Neil Burkdoll originally started writing riffs for these songs back in 1995, but wasn't sure who he would call on to help bring those songs to life.

Krissy and Neil were great friends, who shared the same passion for music. Neil approached her with the idea of singing for a few songs that he had written. Realizing that they had an incredible & undeniable musical chemistry, they decided to try and do more with these songs and actually form a band. Mark, another great friend of Neil & Krissy, helped to complete the core of the lineup & "Whimsical" was born in 1999. While these three members were a constant during the life of "Whimsical", the bass & drum lineup had a few changes over the years. Joe & Tim were the original bassist and drummer when the band first formed - other past members included Brian, Andy, and Mike.

They recorded a demo in late 1999 and were then able to sign with "Seraph Records." After signing, they went on to record a full length album for Seraph in 2000 called "Setting Suns Are Semi-Circles." Whimsical continued to write songs during this time, and recorded another 2 song demo in 2002. They played many shows in Chicago until 2004 & then began recording their 2nd album. Unfortunately this album never came to "life", because Neil moved to California, Mark moved to Ohio, and Krissy settled into life as a new mom.

These three members are still the best of friends & keep in touch on a regular basis. The lost album from 2004 has been finished and will be released in 2016 on Saint Marie Records. The album will be called Sleep to Dream. Krissy and Neil have reformed Whimsical in 2015 and have another album consisting of cover songs and old unreleased songs called Brought to Light, which is also due in 2016. Setting Suns are Semi-Circles was originally released by Seraph, the album is now available through WTII Records on the Whimsical - Setting Suns Are Semi-Circles (WTII Records Official)

2) Jo Morten Weider Kim, born August 4th 1980 is a Norwegian rapper. He grew up in Hvasser in Tjøme, Vestfold. His mother is from Korea and his father from Norway.

Whimsical had his breakthrough with the song "Coming Home". In 2005 the song "Everytime" came out. This was a duet with singer Maria Mena. The song became the theme song for the Norwegian movie "Tommys Inferno", which was in theatres August 2005. .
