One of New Zealand's top ska bands, and certainly the longest-established, The Screaming Orgasms were formed in 1991 at the International Pacific College in Palmerston North. Masaya Hori was the founder of the band, playing melodica and sax, and composing several songs.

As soon as the band was formed, the first five members started playing gigs at parties held at IPC. In 1993, the band started playing gigs at pubs in Palmerston North and also in Wellington. In 1994, the band received TV coverage, with TV3's Newsnight featuring the Screamers.

North Island Tours, named "Ska Explosion" and "Ska Trek" followed in 1995 and 1996, with performances in Auckland, Hamilton, New Plymouth, and Napier. Ska Parties 2, 3 and 4 held in 1994 to 1996 also featured the Screaming Orgasms.

The band has had a continuously changing line-up. For the first few years all members were Japanese, later on included 3 Kiwis among the 7 Screamers. Masaya left NZ and the band in 1997. At this time the band recorded some tracks at The Stomach studio in Palmerston North, but most of these were not released until 2000. The compilation "Skaotearoa" in 1995 featured two Screamers tracks. Moon Ska records (New York) also featured the Screamers' "Ska Dong" on their ska compilation "Love and Affection" in 1997.

"We Play Ska", the band's first full length CD was released in January 2000, featuring both studio and live material (this recorded at the Lone Indian bar in Palmerston North).
Of the 17 tracks, over half the songs are original compositions. Some are new songs such as "Clubhouse Ska" and "Screamers Theme" as well as older favourites like "Ska Dong", "Sun La Ska", and "Skamerston North".

The band has not officially declared it's disintegration. It's members are "now scattered around the globe so we haven't played together for some time - but who knows . . ."
