With a dedicated love of melodic pop-rock, Celadore’s approach to their debut EP Distance Is A Gun was all about the songs.

“Our songs are drawn from personal experience. Distance Is A Gun is the title track and strangely enough was the last song that we worked on prior to recording. We had already started pre-production when Coops brought in a rough demo. With its catchy pulse and crashing chorus, it was the way the relatively bleak and defeated lyrics sat with the upbeat energy of the melody that stood out.” – Celadore

Playing together since their early teens, guitarist/vocalist Michael Cooper and bassist Tom Ahmed cut their teeth in the local all ages scene, but the three piece wasn’t complete until they welcomed drummer David Noordhoff in 2009. With the full line up realised, they set off to record their debut in the remote sanctuary of a coastal beach shack in South-East Victoria.

Drawing inspiration from Crowded House, Motor Ace, Elliott Smith, Big Heavy Stuff and The Beatles, Celadore’s sound swings between brooding rock, subdued balladry and uplifting pop. It was this care for delicate melodies and driving hooks that grabbed the attention of UK producer Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters - Colour And The Shape, Kisschasy - Hymns For The Non-Believer, Gyroscope - Cohesion). Responding to a couple of rough mixes sent over to his East London studios, Chris was quick to take up the job of mixing ‘Distance Is A Gun.’

“I liked what I heard immediately. For me, it’s all about melody, and Celadore have it in spades.” - Chris Sheldon

Greater than the sum of its parts, Celadore make big noise for a little band. Armed with an eye-catching video for the title track (featured on Video Hits, Rage, Channel [V], Landed (Southern Cross) and as clip-of-the-week on SynTV), the trio have taken their compelling live show all over the country, with multiple national tours under their belt and a non-stop schedule to round out the year.

Since the EP's packed out release at the Evelyn Hotel in May of this year, the single and title track, Distance Is A Gun has been on the receiving end of great support from community radio, with rotation on RRR, PBS, SYNfm, Southern FM, Tune FM, 4ZZZ, Radio Adelaide and ThreeD Radio. Add to this the increasing collection of glowing reviews from both music critics and punters alike, and Celadore are rapidly becoming a band that demands attention.

"Celadore play soaring, multi-layered, instantly likeable rock/pop that will speak to fans of bands such as Kisschasy and Gyroscope. Displaying an acute understanding of dynamics, this Melbourne trio are also equally capable of belting out a heartfelt ballad (Control) and something tells me these songs would take on an added dimension in the live arena..." - Inpress Magazine, Issue 1121

"'Distance is a Gun' will not only strike within the first few bars, it has enough genuine melody and musicality to seep into your veins. ...the boys from Celadore have everything needed to make a genuine impression – now watch them grow." - theplaceonline.com

“It seemed a shame to only get half an hour when a band plays this good." - Music Feeds (OAF Live Review, 24/7/10)
