Toasted Heretic was an Irish rock group who attracted a cult following in the late 1980s and 1990s. The band was formed in Galway in the mid-1980s and came to national attention with a self-published album, Songs for Swinging Celibates (an allusion to the Frank Sinatra album Songs for Swingin' Lovers), in 1988. Retic was formed in 1973 (Indianapolis, USA) by a chance encounter and subsequent love-spawning of both his parents. The result was a fully-formed being (Douglas Teike) who began to show interest in all things musical from a very early age. Early compositions committed to cassette tape were rhythmic in nature and it was soon apparent that drums and percussion were his major fascination.
