Formed in Portland ME, in the early 90's, the Rustic Overtones gained popularity with funky horn-infused jams and a rock solid, rock-ready style. In their 9 years together, the band gained a passionate following with their high energy live set, tirelessly touring college campuses and local clubs up and down the east coast, sometimes playing close to 200 shows a year. Their last show, a career spanning two and a half hour set, closed out the Overtone era at the State Theater in Portland on May 11, 2002.

The name Verto is the name under which the French guitarist Jean-Pierre Grasset created his musical vision. To this end he collaborated with several musicians and other bands. One such band which he met before, while working in Tartempion (which helped bands setting up concerts) was Potemkine which also appear in side one of the the first Verto release from 1976, Krig/Volubilis. The second album called Reel was released in 1978 on Fleau records and has a different lineup. Denise Levertov was a British-born American poet.
While being educated at home, Levertov showed an enthusiasm for writing from an early age, even claiming later in life that, when she was five years old, she had declared she would be a writer. At the age of 12, she sent some of her poems to T. S. Eliot, who replied with a two-page letter of encouragement. In 1940, when she was 17, Levertov published her first poem.
