Composer, pianist, arranger and producer. Founder and member of A Cor Do Som, Mu Carvalho has had his compositional talent confirmed by the hits "Sapato Velho" (with Paulinho Tapajos), "Terra do Nunca", "Chocolate Com Pimenta" (with Aldir Blanc), and by the music written for the soundtracks of the films A Dama do Lotação, Os Sete Gatinhos, Navalha na Carne (all by Neville de Almeida), O Noviço Rebelde, Xuxa e os Duendes 2, and Xuxa Popstar (all by Tizuka Yamazaki). His first solo album was the LP Meu Continente Encontrado (1985), that had the special participation of Luis Eça, Egberto Gismonti, Ze Luiz and produced by Egberto Gismonti. As a sideman on live performances and recordings, Mu has worked with artists like Chico Buarque, Jorge Ben Jor, MPB-4, Alceu Valenca, Moraes Moreira, Fernanda Abreu, Legião Urbana, Luiz Caldas, Paulinho Moska, Gabriel O Pensador, and Marina Lima. Also a producer, Mu received a 15-diamond CD for his work for the collection Biblia Sagrada, which sold over 15 million copies. Mu debuted in the artistic career at 16 in the group Semente. In 1974, he became a member of Jorge Ben's Banda do Ze Pretinho. In the next year, the group that would be known as A Cor Do Som (Mu, his brother Dadi, Gustavo, and Armandinho) was Moraes Moreira's support band and recorded his first album. In 1976, Mu wrote "Sapato Velho" (with Claudio Nucci/Paulinho Tapajos). The song became a hit and was re-recorded several times, which confirmed Mu as a composer. His "Espirito Infantil" was classified with fifth place in the first National Choro Festival, organized by TV Bandeirantes. In 1978, Mu backed up Gilberto Gil at the Montreux Festival (Switzerland) and in his tour through France, Argentina, and Brazil. In 1990, he toured with Legião Urbana through Brazil, also participating in the group's live recorded album Musica Para Acampamento. Mu also produced the album "Erasmo Carlos Convida 2" with special guests artists like Djavan, Marisa Monte, Chico Buarque, Skank, Los Hermanos, Kid Abelha, Zeca Pagodinho, Lulu Santos, Adriana Calcanhoto, Simone, Os Cariocas and Milton Nascimento, released in may, 2007. .
