There are at least 3 bands with the name The Buddy System:

1) The Buddy System was a pop punk/emo band active in Washington DC. They consisted of members/ex-members of the Le Nouns, brick shitter, Grab Your Socks and the AM Flix.

Tom Ripley plays guitar and sings, Michael Weber plays bass and sings, Chris Henley(the feed) played drums.
they released one ep and two other tracks. they broke up in january of 2010, their last show was with cuddle circle at third st. with erik sedwick (the subjects/exb-brickshitter/frantic onslaught) on drums. michael and tom are starting new, more mathy and screamo.

2) The Buddy System was a pop/punk band from Long Island that was active in the late 90's and disbanded in 2003/2004. During their short time together, they released 2 albums, 2 EPs, and various demos. Though they never officially toured, they played various shows throughout the northeast and played well over 200 shows. Every once in a blue moon, the 3 core members (Chris Barone, Dustin Schneider, and Mike Calvet) will come together and play small reunion shows for the hell of it. The Buddy System also had a total of 3 drummers which included Cody Serr, Chris Arena, and Brad Cordero. After The Buddy System broke up, Chris Barone went on to join The Gun Stays. Chris Arena started The Total Height with pianist Dana Collins. Mike and Dustin went on to create the short lived Upon Infinity. Mike, Chris, and Dustin played in Bothan Spies along with Dana Collins from 2006-2008. Dustin and Chris have since started a band called Sister Kisser.

3) The Buddy System is an elite team of pop scientists. When one of them has an idea, they all rush to the lab and work through the night to bring it to life. Together, they weave a gentle tapestry of sound and vision, music and animation. Bouncy synths and blazing guitars team up with misanthropic monsters and Satanic horse cults to bring order to the chaos, and vice versa.

But life was not always so exciting for The Buddy System. Lauren Gregg and Craig Sheldon were mild-mannered art school students when they first met. They became fast friends, but it wasn't until three years ago that they joined forces as the Kangaroo Alliance, an animation duo that's brought their vibrant cartoon stylings to television shows such as Yo Gabba Gabba and art publications like Pictoplasma.

After relocating from Brooklyn to Athens, Georgia, they met up with longtime friend and Kindercore co-founder Ryan Lewis to discuss creative pursuits. Ryan had played in a ton of bands – The Four Corners and The Agenda being just a couple examples – and the three of them tossed around the idea of a band where every song has an animation. When Mat Lewis, Ryan's brother and former drummer for DC bands Pocket Rockets and The Max Levine Ensemble, moved to town, The Buddy System was born. They immediately set to recording music, animating cartoons, and booking shows. .
