Josh Reichmann’s first band, Tangiers, brought a rock/post-punk sound that began a trail of critical acclaim with their first release Hot New Spirits (2003) and spread over two more records (Never Bring You Pleasure, 2004; and The Family Myth, 2005). Tangiers caught the attention of indie rock fans across Canada and the US, and earned rave reviews from such notable sources as Pitchfork Media.

Josh returned to music [after a brief stint as Jewish Legend] with an entirely new line up of collaborators, now gathering from a pool of soul, early-funk, roots and dark punk influences. Josh Reichmann Oracle Band is a five piece band incorporating heavy saxophone, Stevie Wonder-meets-The Stooges keyboards, soul-style drumming, a live dancer, thick roots bass and Josh as the main songwriter and front man. At the root of these sounds is pure songwriting- timeless, heart wrenching and darkly enchanting.

All of these pieces have been filtered through Josh's unique production fingerprint to offer a first recorded glimpse of the band with the Life Is Legal EP. It's a recording that aptly displays the ground that Josh has covered in recent years. The Life Is Legal EP was recorded in Toronto at Gigantic Studios, engineered by Sean Gugula and produced by Josh Reichmann. Josh Reichmann plays guitar bass and others, and is joined by Joseph Shabason on sax/flute, Steve Singh on keyboards/piano, Niko Kwiatkowski on drums/percussion. His live band is made up of the same players and includes Jon Hynes on Bass and Laura Bolton- a former ballet dancer with The National Ballet.

Josh has most recently been collaborating with Sebastien Grainger (of Death From Above 1979) in various musical ways that will manifest itself in an upcoming North American tour. .
