SHRUM was created by Audie T. Pitre in 1995 when he got the idea of putting two bass players together in order to create a brutal sound. He shared this idea with Tommy Viator and they began creating what was the beginning of SHRUM. They were undecided as to who they would get to fill the second bass position. They asked Joseph J. Fontenot (Shredding Lettuce) if he would be interested in the concept of forming a band with two bassists, drums and vocals... enter second bassist, Joe. Shrubs were an English rock music group, formed in Watford in 1985. After being sacked from Stump for 'being too serious', Nick Hobbs formed his own band, initially as The Kevin Staples Band, but changing name to The Shrubs before first release Full Steam Into The Brainstorm, a 6-track 12" EP in July 1986 on the Ron Johnson label. Bassist Phil Roberts left shortly afterwards to join Marc Riley in The Creepers, to be replaced by Steve Brockley, and subsequently by Mark Grebby, who had been the bass player for original Ron Johnson artistes Splat! SHRUBBN!! was founded by MARCO HAAS aka T.RAUMSCHMIERE and ULLI BOMANS aka SCHIERES in 1995. the aim of SHRUBBN!! was to do dirty-filthy-but-swinging-noize-improvisations while tripping. they used to call it ROTZ-POP!! the results were recorded on a stereo tape recorder and by 1997 the first demo was finished. 4-8 pieces were duplicated and given to special people. in 1997 SHRUBBN!! released the track "thema" on the vinyl compilation "the cozmick suckers vol. orange" (on the label SHITKATAPULT that was founded by marco haas and marcus stotz in the same year). one year later, 1998, the track "koenig thule" was released...
