In 1993 Morten Henriksen (ex-Cosmic Dropouts, now fronting the splendid powerpop quartet The Yum Yums) organized several gigs in Norway for the Devil Dogs whose singer/bass player Steve Baise got to know his later Norwegian wife at one of the shows. Seminal doo wop group the Del-Vikings were trailblazers in two senses: first, showing that a racially integrated group could achieve mass success, and, second, showing that line-up changes, label shenanigans, and other difficulties could snuff that success despite multiple pop hits.
