With influences from The Dillinger Escape Plan and Training for Utopia to 8-Bit Nintendo games, Sacramento, CA based Journal just recently released their first full-length record titled, “UNLORJA.” Released on June 12, the concept album features twelve tracks of fine progressive metal. This is almost seven years after founding members Joseph Van Houten (guitar) and Justin Tvetan (drums) formed the band in the summer of 2003. Abdul-Jalil Rashawd, best known by his stage name Journalist 103, is a hip-hop artist from Detroit, and is best known as one-third of the hip-hop group The Left, with fellow Detroit artists Apollo Brown and DJ Soko. When it comes to emceeing and the essence of hip-hop, Journalist 103 showcases the form of an emcee evolving from a person who simply puts words over beats, to a speaker in tune giving life to his tracks. A Journey Down The Well is the point where the soul of minimal classical music meet modern forms such as ambient. They are creating extraordinary works, since the band was formed by two Swedish and one Turkish musician (Martin Bjelfvenstam, Anna Erneman and Taner Torun) in 2006. Although the band thinks none of the genres really fit, their music is commonly tagged as post-rock, ambient, experimental and avant-garde. Due to their orchestrated arrangements with cello, violin, piano and choir they are familiar with minimal and contemporary classical music. .
