Poet Sandra Alland and musician Y. Josephine formed the multimedia performance troupe, Zorras, after seeing each other perform in Edinburgh in 2007. They quickly became known for their unique bilingual mixture of text, sound poetry, percussion, singing, guitar, electric bass, megaphones and projected images. Zorras inject passion and humour into personal experiences and cutting observations of our troubling times. The result is strangely alluring musical stories.

In summer of 2009, Zorras began to collaborate with other musicians and visual artists, including Ariadna Battich, who often works with Alland to create slides and video for Zorras performances. The images enhance the performance onstage, sometimes becoming the main focus of the show. Since 2010, Zorras have been touring internationally, including gigs in Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Canada and the United States.

Zorras released their first CD, We Apologise For Any Inconvenience, in July 2009 (Minor Assault Records). They released a follow-up EP, Doctor Says (Minor Assault Records), in April 2012. Zorras have also published internationally, and produced three volumes of their own hand-made, limited-edition poetry chapbook, Maricón.

UK gigs include: Edinburgh International Book Festival, Soho Theatre, Queer Mutiny, Pussy Whipped!, GFest (Cochrane Theatre), Museum of London, Aye Write! Festival, Sage and Time, Bar Wotever, The Eruption of Kilauea (Filmhouse/Screen Bandita), Moor Music Festival, Traverse Theatre (Noisy Nights), Homotopia (Unity Theatre), Cocoon Counter Cultural Festival (GRV), Bongo Club, Tron Theatre (Manifesto Kabaret), Ladyfest -- and Zorras' own queer and trans cabaret - Cachin Cachan Cachunga!
