NMB48 (or Namba48) is a all-female Japanese theater and idol group produced by Akimoto Yasushi. It perform regularly in the NMB48 Theater in Namba, Osaka. The group belongs to Kyoraku Yoshimoto Holdings Co., Ltd., a joint corporation of Yoshimoto Kogyo Co., Ltd. and Kyoraku Sangyo Co., Ltd.

On 10 July 2010, AKB48 first announced that they will be forming a second sister national group and that this new group will be based in Namba, Japan.

NMB48 officially became active on 9 October 2010. Yasushi Akimoto announced that the group will have 26 research students for the first generation, that made their first appearance at the AKB48 Tokyo Autumn Festival.

NMB48 made their debut performance at their theater on New Year's Day 2011. And released their debut single, "Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shōjo" on 20 July 2011. On its debut week, the single sold a total of about 218,000 copies, making it the bestselling debut single of a girlgroup on the Oricon weekly charts, and makes NMB48 the second girl group after PASSPO to reach number 1 with a debut single.

On June 6, the second generation winners were announced at the end of Team N's performance at TDC Hall. The introduction of the 2nd generation brought the total number of members in NMB48 to their goal number of 48.

In October 19, NMB48 released Oh My God!, their 2nd single.

Team N have two stages: "Dareka no Tame ni" (released in January, that have a DVD released at June) and "Seishun Girls" (released in May). 2nd generation of Kenkyuusei have one: "Party ga Hajimaru yo", released in August.

NMB48 also participed from the AKB48 22nd Single Senbatsu Sousenkyo "Kotoshi mo Gachi Desu" and the 24th Single Senbatsu Janken Taikai. Yamamoto Sayaka participed from "Everyday, Kachuusha" and "Kaze wa Fuiteiru", Watanabe Miyuki from "Everyday, Kachuusha" and Yamaguchi Yuuki and Hikawa Ayame (Research Student) from "Ue Kara Mariko".

NMB48 will release their 3rd single, Junjou U-19, in February 8th.
