Alexei Borisov (Алексей Борисов) was born in 1960 in Moscow, USSR. In 1983 he graduated from Moscow State University, History Department. He started his music career in 1980 as a guitarist of the first Moscow new-wave band The Center (Центр). In 1981 with guitarist Dmitry Matzenov he organized THE PROSPEKT (Проспект), big-beat-ska-mod band. In 1985 with the keyboard-player Ivan Sokolovsky (Иван Соколовский) he formed the first russian techno-industrial-post-rock band NOTCHNOI PROSPEKT (Ночной Проспект). This project is still active, playing concerts and taking part in different festivals in Russia and abroad. NOTCHNOI PROSPEKT released six albums, one of them (Sugar) has been released in 1990 by Accelerating Blue Fish from Malmo (Sweden). Since the beginning of the 90-s Borisov takes part in electronic duo F.R.U.I.T.S. (with Pavel Jagun), which became quite wellknown in Russia and abroad. Among his latest projects should be mentioned ethno-electronic band VOLGA (Волга) (with Angela Manukjan, Roman Lebedev, Uri Balashov), GOSPLAN TRIO (Госплан Трио) with saxophonist Sergei Letov (Сергей Летов) and experimental duo with Anton Nikkilä from Finland. In 2000 Borisov and Nikkila formed N&B Research Digest record label. Among other Borisov’ collaborations are the joint projects with the performance-group Nord (Russia), Sergei Letov (Gosplan Trio and other projects) (Russia), Michail Salnikov (Tooth Kink project) (Russia), Rada Anchevskaya (Рада и Госплан Трио) (Russia), CD-R (Russia), Cisfinitum (Russia), Dmitry Zuboff (Russia), Miguel Ruiz (Spain), Roman Turchak (Russia), KK Null (Japan), Jeffrey Surak (USA), Leif Ellgren (Sweden), The New Blockaders (UK), Tania Stene (Norway), Gilles Aubry (Switzerland), Franz Pomassl (Austria), Adam Ebringer (Australia), Ignaz Schick (Germany), R74 (Switzerland), Tom Smith (USA)... Borisov also collaborates with the video-artists Roman Anikushin, Alexander Sidorov, Nikita Tsymbal, Natalia Poloka, multimedia-artists Aristarh Chernishev and Vladislav Efimov..... Also Borisov plays solo, as well as in projects, touring and taking part at such wellknown international festivals as ClubTransmediale (Berlin 2004), Sonar (Barcelona 2003), Avanto (Helsinki 2000, 2001, 2002), Phonotaktik, Prototype (Austria 2002), HUH Festival 2003 (Tallinn), Unsound 2004, 2006 (Krakow), Mutek (Montreal 2005), Garage (Stralsund, Germany 2004,05), Noise and Fury (Moscow 2001-07), Trollofon 2004 (Bergen, Norway), Argos 2004 (Brussles), SKIF 2000-06 (St.Petresburg), Details of Sound 2005 (Kiev, Ukraine), Erase and Reset (Berlin 2006), Long Arms festival (Moscow, Nijny Novgorod, Yaroslavl, Russia 2007) etc..... He also works as a DJ in clubs and on radio and contributes as a journalist to some russian and foreign (B’Mag, Technikart) magazines, newspapers and web-sites.
